A Starry Night in Charleville is Snorri's fourth CD, released in April 2003. It is a compilation of already released music, but has two previously unreleased tracks. The CD was compiled per request to present an original theme music for the Grand Opening of the new Charleville Cosmos Centre in Outback Queensland, Australia, which opened on April 26th, 2003. The purpose of the Centre is to enable amateur astronomers and tourists to meet under the pristine skies of the Australian Outback, where conditions for stargazing are among the best on the planet. The title track, appropriately called "A Starry Night in Charleville", features the haunting drone of a Digeridoo volunteered to the project by the Bidjara Tribe in Outback Queensland. The second track, titled Aurora Australis was also written for this event. Additionally, the CD contains an assortment of music from Snorri's three CDs - Aurora Borealis, Butterflies, and Cosmic Journey. Like so many other Snorri compositions, A Starry Night in Charleville relays a message. The didgeridoo represents our connection to our past. "It is very symbolic that such a simple instrument, quite possibly Humanity's first instrument, is the one that sets the stage for all the other instruments used in the music", says Snorri. "The soothing synthesizer strings take us to the future, where our travel to the stars will begin. The brass represents the grandeur of the Cosmos, the sizzling sound of the Cymbal represents the starry wonders of the night sky, the arpeggiated synth represents pulsars, and so on. A Starry Night in Charleville makes us look into the future by looking to the past." |
